How did you find me?: Looking up that lovely Anita Bryant person
Do you like my site?: Hmh?
Will you visit again?: Once was enough
Will you recommend site to others?: Oh Please
Do you think I'm insane?: Yes
Comments:
I think you were on the right track as a youth and have regressed...
Just one comment..Regarding the 'normalization of Homosexuality'....I think the
AMA took care of that about 2 decades ago.....
Yeah we;re so abnormal..That's why we're more educated, more worldly, make more
money, have more disposable income....Need I continue.
You're right, we're not normal, and I'll tell you this....Judging by what's
considered normal in this society....Thank God I'm not.
Oh yeah..Why should we have the same rights, let's see....Hmmmmh...I make more
money on average, thereforeI pay more taxes on average, but you can marry a
woman and the next day have 1,000 plus more rights than I woould have in a 50 year
commited relationship.....
And it sounds to me like you allowed your one experience in the military with a
couple of indiscreet gays to form your lifelong opinion of gay people...I'll
tell you what, I went to College with some real SLUTS...yes ALL CAPS SLUTS.....To
make an analogy, it would be like me thinking now for the rest of my life that
all women are incredible sluts because of those few college-girls I
knew.....Doesn't make sense , does it?
Webmaster's Response:
After entering my site on a Google of "Anita Bryant," MJB's 13-minute visit to my site took the following path:
17:32:50 EST The History of Annie Bryant (1978 anti-Anita Bryant poem)
17:35:52 EST Site Index: H: Homosexuality
17:35:57 EST Ban against homosexuals must remain (1993 newspaper column)
17:38:42 EST Bill Clinton Can Never Be Trusted (Why I'm a "Clinton hater")
17:39:22 EST Contact Page
17:39:31 EST Homepage
17:40:09 EST Irritations (Things I hate)
17:42:48 EST Hate Mail (Overwrought reactions to my site)
17:44:43 EST Pro-life and Anti-abortion Connections: Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians
17:45:48 EST Guestbook Central
17:46:11 EST Guestbook Form
Please note that MJB spent only about six minutes on just two homosexuality-related pages on my site. Also note that he/she could have learned more about my position having accessed my Site Index which links to all I've posted on the subject. From this limited exposure to my views on the normalization of homosexuality, he/she concludes that "[I] allowed [my] one experience in the military with a couple of indiscreet gays to form [my] lifelong opinion of gay people."
I readily acknowledge that the material I have made available on my site provides mere snapshots in my evolution from "ally" to "homophobe" over the past 25 or 30 years. I've long recognized the need to document this transformation in more detail as many find it counterintuitive. Even so, an objective reading of what I have written over the years clearly indicates the working of multiple influences over time, and not simply the negative reaction to an isolated incident.
All that being said, MJB is clearly far more superficial and flippant in his/her evaluation of the source of my opposition to normalization of homosexuality than he/she obviously imagines me to be with regard to this issue.
Finally, MJB is mistaken on at least two counts in his/her comment on the AMA, the American Medical Association, normalizing homosexuality. In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed "homosexuality" as a psychiatric disorder from their Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. This decision was made not on the basis of scientific merit, but solely upon social and political considerations.

i was not born when the usa took the first step on the moon. and i didn't miss much! i think every thing they did and told us was FAKE! we are studing this at school and they should us pictures where copied and passed. things that where apposabley 2km are something where filmed in the same spot because the rocks are in the same spot. different light sources from other places. camra where showing everything purfect and having no trouble,BUT the man who desined the camras said it was hard to operate. when the men are walking on the moon and times that by 2 it is just like someone walking same with the car. AND the flag waving in the air like that give me a break here if you truley belive the usa made it to the moon i feel sorry for you. area 51 is pretty tight but we can clearly oput smart them! oh annd a nother thing is the usa and the russin's where compeating and gave up beacause the radiation level was to high and we made there and back fine with no sickness or anythin....i think not ......IT WAS SO FAKE!!
Webmaster's Response:
Hmm, perhaps I should expect this sort of idiocy as I have one of the top rated pages on the subject, "First moon landing in 1969 marked an entire generation." I won't take the trouble to refute this wanton ignorance as it is inherently self-refuting by both its illiterate nature and its author's obvious dishonesty. If you should require a refutation, you can start with "The Great Moon Hoax."

Comments:
Dear Mr. Wallace,
I found your opinion about your experience with homosexuals in Army sleeping
quarters well written (though it contained one grammatical error). I like that
you give your "profile" up front. I think it terrible you had to endure your
roommate(s)' inconsiderate behavior.
I would find such behavior equally annoying and detrimental to good order and
discipline had they been heterosexual...
Thank you sir.
Webmaster's Response:
I'm pleased that you enjoyed my essay, The Military's Ban Against Homosexuals Should Remain, though I suspect you didn't agree with it.
I do wish you had identified the grammatical error you found. Even so, upon rereading my essay for the umpteenth time, I located two possibilities:
"After learning what unit I belonged to, they would ask me if I knew my roommate."
Hmm, ending a clause, much less a sentence, with a preposition is almost always grammatically suspect. I find it rather interesting that my instructor missed it way back when. Far more interesting is that I missed it then and have continued to do so all these years! I reckon it won't do any harm to correct it now.
"Barracks life is highly communal, and privacy is very limited, but these conditions foster the camaraderie and the unit cohesion that is vital to the proper functioning of a combat-ready force. In the military, respect and loyalty between members is powerful enough to transcend almost every animosity."
Hmm, perhaps one might see an agreement error or two in this passage. Though the phrases "the camaraderie and the unit cohesion" and "respect and loyalty" are compounds and would ordinarily take a plural verb, I intentionally used the singular. I chose this construction because the components of the compounds are so closely related to one another as to form a conceptual whole, a single idea if you will, hence my use of the singular verb in keeping with a recognized exception to the rule. The fact that my usage survived into the essay's final draft suggests that my instructor agreed with my rhetorical practice.
While heterosexual relationships between servicemembers and between servicemembers and civilians can be problematic, in almost five years on active duty, I experienced only two "annoying" problems, and both were one-time incidents involving civilians. Actually, "annoying" is the wrong word; the first, when I was stationed in Germany, was downright hilarious, and the second, when I was stationed at Fort Lewis, was mildly disgusting in a pathetic sort of way. Anyway, this is a separate issue which requires its own essay.
