Ack, my evil young UPS coworker, the Inca witch! She's not actually a witch, and though she is originally from Peru, she may not even be Incan, but she is definitely evil in that she is constantly bedeviling me. Given that she's just under half my age and always seeking me out for advice, I reckon I'm her honorary "tio."

I was happy to find an atheist pro-life site. While I am a Christian, my pro-life views arise from science, reason, and conscience more than simply my religion. However, I am always attacked and told that the pro-life position is a religious view. So I guess I'm glad to see that the pro-life position can cross belief systems.

Do you like my site?: Well done
Will you visit again?: At least once more, but having learned your position, why?
Will you recommend site to others?: If need be
Do you think I'm insane?: I find you quite sane, but misinformed, which makes you very average
really.
Comments:
I am gratefull for your pro-life, anti-child porn position. I too
abandoned my formal religious system at a young age and was condemmed by the
clergy for my question asking, but I could not forsake a search for the truth. After
much inquiry into all kinds of religious thought I eventually came to a very
real, very rational belief in Jesus Christ(God in knowable form)outside of a
formal "religious system". Because I would not give up seeking the truth, He(Jesus
calls Himself the Way and the Truth) eventually honored my persistance by
making Himself so real to me that everything else seems vague, temporal, and
incomplete. If I may I would like to ask you some questions and make a few
observations.
If every thing must be proven by material existance how do you explain that
which is not, (i.e. love, hate, evil, patriotism, etc).
As a patriot how do you address the fact that most of our founding fathers were
deists? Were these great men (and other exceptional thinkers that are/were
believers) delusional or ignorant?
I once called myself an agnostic, but could not find the ego to presume I knew
enough to deny the existance of some form of deity. How can you rationally take
that position since you have not been every where or know every thing?
Some comments:
My perception is that you gave up the search for truth early on. Your need to be "unique", your pride in your intellegence, and your limited experience with true Christian thought (one pentacostal service and liberal Methodism doesn't really count)has kept you from the beautiful, serene understanding that we are the well loved children of an all perfect Creator and destined (by our choice) to an eternal existance that will be more excellent than we can begin to imagine. I guarantee that if you honestly want to know if God is real, put aside your need to rebel, confess your fallibility and ask Him to reveal himself, then you will one day know Him as Creator, Redeemer, and all mighty Friend.
Unfortunately great intelligence can be a great hinderance to understanding. Lean not unto your own understanding, your ways are not God's ways.
"It is impossible for anyone to learn what he thinks he already knows" Epictetus, circa A.D.60.
Webmaster's Response:
I have more than enough experience with and understanding of Christianity to recognize it for the self-serving human contrivance that it is, and this truth applies to all religions. Also, being right or wrong in religious views in no way precludes one from being the opposite in other matters. Additionally, emotions, thoughts, etc. are not immaterial as they are the product of the chemical and physical interaction of the human brain. Finally, you are incorrect to claim that I "gave up the search for truth early on" generally speaking. My conversion to atheism expanded and accelerated my pursuit of truth and freed me of the exercise in futility that is searching for truth in Christianity. Jesus on the Cross is one of the greatest frauds ever perpetrated, and "Jesus died for your sins" is one of the greatest lies ever spoken.

Oh my lack of god, my misspent youth has caught up with me yet again! Howdy Brian and Susanne, good to hear from you! Hard to believe that it's been the better part of sixteen years since we were in the Army together (well at least former roommate Brian; Sue, being a "rad," would be more accurately classified as a "camp follower" ::hehe::) assigned to HQ & A Company, 26th Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division and stationed in sweet little Aschaffenburg-am-Main, Bavaria, Germany back in the closing days of the Cold War. Ah, the sordid little stories the barracks of Graves Kaserne could tell. "ROCK OF THE MARNE!" We been lookin' fer yew boy! [Please note: "rad" is GI slang for a German national. The term is a contraction of "comrade" which we applied generically to the locals as they were all Commie spies and would just as soon have us gone as we were impeding the Revolution.]

I am delighted to meet you. The similarity of our backgrounds is striking, though I, for the pleasure of the music, stayed involved with the church several years longer than did you. In my mid-teens, I asked our wonderfully paternal old Methodist minister if I had to believe each of those items of doctrine, etc. he responded, "No, David, believe what you can." That was my pass to intellectual freedom. A few years later, I met Ayn Rand and began to realize how moral constructs could be built on reason rather than discredited mysticism. As a result, I am now one of the few atheist conservatives, incomprehensible to most of my peers. Good luck to you, and thanks for being.

Nice site. This may be of interest to you: "Mahler: The Man Who Was Never Born (http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/mahler) is a play which utilizes Goethe's concept of The Faustian Bargain. It is a term that I've coined to indicate an imagined, unearned gain in exchange for one's soul - a barter where-in the recipent is the looser. It is the relinquishing of one's judgement and life and when he places himself in the power of another. One does not get a "free lunch."" - From the Author

Wonderful, everything I could get my hands on was wonderful. So much to read, it really makes me think. At first, I was going to side with my teacher, because he is a homosexual. Now, after reading over different experiences and how unnatural the whole concept is really pulls me to the other side. I personally have had experiences with homo girls, and I could accept it. But, there seems to be a kind of pattern where these people have crossed the line. This is when they put a move on someone, interfere with their life and just make things unbearable and uncomfortable. Why? Honestly? Anyways, I'm off track and wanted to say keep up the essays that convince people to keep our natural lifestyle. It's worked for thousands of years, why change now?
Webmaster's Response:
You're most welcome Rita; you're part of the reason for this site's existence. Thanks for validating the time, effort, and money I've expended on my site.

As a "conservative" traditionalist atheist (of the Libertarian persuasion, I was musing on the fact that most humanists are intolerant leftists when I decided to do a Google search to see if there were any conservative atheists out there. Lo' and behold, look what I found! The Compleat Heretic! Great site! Since having children of my own, I've leaned more and more to the pro-life position and you've even got a non-religious pro-life site. Wow! Good stuff. Who would have thought there was anyone out there that I could identify with so well?
Webmaster's Response:
I've been there myself, back in '96 or '97. Unfortunately, I only found the web sites of anti-conservative and/or anti-Republican atheists which is one of the reasons I started this site in March 1997.

I am a 36 year-old Republican Atheist. I spent 8 years in the Army, and am a Gulf War veteran (1991). I've been an Atheist for about twenty years. It's pretty weird having beliefs that don't pigeonhole neatly into one group. I've been tinkering with the idea of creating a Republican Atheist website/PAC called "Square-Peg Republicans" based loosely on the concept of the "Log Cabin Republicans". Oh well.....blah....blah....blah.....(tape ends).
Webmaster's Response:
Oh, my lack of god, my near twin! Fortunately, the anything-goes-Internet allows an outlet for any and every permutation of the human experience. I too have entertained the notion of starting a web site specifically for the "Radical Irreligious Right" for sometime but have never had the time to develop the concept further.

How did you find me?: Searching for ads on animal abuse
Comments:
i completely disagree with your point of view - have you no idea how animals are abused in order for them to be psychologically broken to be domesticated and to perform tricks that they would not normally be doing if they were free in the wild?? In thailand, they abuse endangered three year old baby asian elephants for three days in a cage that is so small they are immobilized - they cannot lie down to rest, they are not given food or water, and they are continuously stabbed and hit on the most sensitive parts of their bodies. This is so they are domesticated...then they are sent to the USA or Europe to be in circuses.
Webmaster's Response:
Well, I suppose I do have some "idea how animals are abused," but, being a mature adult male of the preeminent predatory species on the planet, I reckon I'm just not that concerned about it.
