As of 24 March 2014, the venerable Award Sites! awards rating system (1997-2014) had ceased operations, and its website had been converted to an archive of its highest rated programs. Award programs will continue to be acknowledged by their last Award Sites! rating if such is known.

Description: book-look, a British online book and entertainment reviewer and reseller, offers "three awards to Web sites that are exceptionally well constructed, in recognition of the long hours, hard work and positive contributions, Web site developers and graphic designers make to the World Wide Web." Starting in 2005, only "sites relating to the Arts and Literature" will be awarded. "Sites are judged based on ease of navigation, content, graphic quality, page layout and design."
Citation: "I am delighted to tell you that we have now assessed your Web site (www.CompleatHeretic.com) and, based on the ease of navigation, content, graphic quality, page layout and design, we have re-awarded you the book-look "Top Spot" award for Web site excellence."

Timelines Award of Excellence and Timelines Future Minded Website

Description: Friedrich Hornischer, a German webmaster, presents his Timelines Awards "to bring sites together that present new thoughts and new aspects of possibilities to manage life in the coming centuries." Sites are evaluated on content, design, and presentation.
Citation: "It was a pleasure to visit Your sites, and I see the big work and time You have invested in making Your sites! It is interesting to read Your biography, and many other chapters of Your sites! You have a lot of own publications online, and a collection of Your own favourite games, movies and music! Description: Penmarric Cornish Rex, the site of Cornish Rex cat breeder Lin Smith, rewards webmasters for the "dedication, time, and a lot of hard work" required for their "contribution[s] to make the web a safer, better place to surf." Sites are evaluated on content, design, navigation, and creativity.
Citation: "ConCATulations! Our judges have reviewed your website, and found it interesting and a pleasure to surf through. We are very pleased to send along our SILVER award."
"You have quite an extensive website full of information. It is very well presented and easy to read. I don't necessarily agree with much of what you say, but we weren't here regarding the content, and I did enjoy the well laid out pages. I visited some of the sites on your webrings, b/c I honestly didn't know if any might not have been family friendly, but the ones I went to were, so I didn't look further. The one thing our judges agreed on was the lack of navigation at the bottom of your pages. A link to the home page is not considered adequate especially on a large site. I checked your links using XENU, and I include their report below. Some of the broken links are likely repeated, and some will likely be temporarily out of service at that time. Hope its helpful. WELL DONE"

Sites are evaluated on content, design, navigation, coding, browser compatibility, load time, and overall appearance.
Citation: "My little dog JOSCHI and I have just visited your site, and we like it although we do not identify with the ideas of this site. Nevertheless, you have won Joschi's *Award of Excellence*. Congratulations!"

Pacoima Ranch Vision Award

Description: "The overarching criteria for the Vision Award," presented by Pacoima Ranch, "is 'breathtaking concepts that make you want to return.'" It "is a concept award" and "is not about graphics, coding, navigation, nor multimedia" but "is about knowledge, fun, horizon broadening, art and learning." Sites are evaluated on graphics, coding, and the evaluators' immediate desire to bookmark the site and make frequent return visits.
Citation: "Wonderful site-- the exact type we started the award for!!! Amazing content!!! Congratulations."

Description: The "Southern Nytes Award of Elegance" is presented by Southern Nytes "to recognize homepage builders who have designed an elegant site on the web." Sites are evaluated on originality, design, graphics, layout, navigation, and attitude.
